Loved it. The store is really clean and organized. I was able to find everything easily and check out quickly. The employees were really kind and helpful. We asked about a scooter, as I just had back surgery, and the woman actually went and got me one and came back quickly, then wished us a Merry Christmas. The cashier was really nice and friendly as well, she chatted with us and wished us a good night.
As with the majority of remaining malls, it needs help. Dirty, somewhat barren and not a whole lot happening. Environment and atmosphere is very tired and lacks any energy whatsoever. You can feel the place dying. It’s actually a bit sad. Gone are the days of your run of the mill mall with hustle and bustle. There’s still some out there but this isn’t one of them. Went into Target (which was dirty and disorganized like crazy. Unlike most other Targets I’ve been to) and a few other stores. Nothing extraordinary other than Shag, which had a ton of interesting items to look at. Beyond that, it’s essentially a Midwestern mall on life support. The area isn’t the best part of Des Moines either if you know what I mean.
I’ve been going to this mall since I was a kid. It used to be a great place for family and people of all ages. I still come for shopping and to walk around sometimes but today was eye opening. I came to spend an hour while my car got repairs and this mall needs several repairs. It’s GROSS, HOT & SMELLLY
The carpet needs completely replaced and a good scrubbing since there’s obviously flood damage from years past and the Flix Brewhouse entrance smells like a dead mouse or the inside of a cage. I asked a few employees if they could do something about it but the answer was no.
This mall could be so good if they spent more time fixing what they already have instead of adding new stores and shuffling the existing ones around.
Rant over.

Great place! Love Spirit Halloween and the theatre. Shag is a great store, too. Can't wait until next year when Spirit returns!
